Stavros Tsiovolos

The LL.M. AWArDS provides a perfectly crafted balance between academic excellence and practical experience. The University of Panthéon-Assas rightly bears the title as one of the leading universities in Europe. This distinction combined with the teaching by distinguished professors of arbitration and international law provides all those academic prerequisites for academic excellence. However, what distinguishes this master’s degree is the teaching by seasoned practitioners of international arbitration. A first-hand experience with top-tier law firms arms the candidate with the practical background to further excel his/hers professional advancement. The modules are structured in a way as to prepare the candidate for the international arbitration practice. Moot-courts, memorial drafting and oral advocacy assessments lead to the creation of a complete profile of the candidate. As arbitration in its essence is inclusive, so is this LL.M. by establishing one of the most diverse communities. Thus, the candidate is offered the rare opportunity to obtain valuable knowledge of common and civil law background. Post graduation, I have received an offer from one of the leading international arbitration law firms in Paris, and this underlines perfectly the prestige of the LL.M. AWArDS and its international recognition.”

The LL.M Assas World Arbitration and Disputes Settlement is exceptional. The program delivers International Arbitration in a truly international setting, in Paris, the world’s Seat of Arbitration, by the University Paris-Panthéon-Assas, which is intrinsically tied to the French legal tradition, offering its students the best of both worlds.

The experience was immensely constructive. Being taught by the means of academic classes dispensed by renowned professors in the field, as well as by leading practitioners was both an honor and a privilege. Practically, the LL.M covers all aspects of International Arbitration, specializing in subjects which are applied for a future career in the field. The LLM starts with core courses in International Arbitration and then gradually specialises through workshops to distinct fields of Arbitration such as, amongst others, energy disputes, institutional rules as well as preparing for oral advocacy and written skills. The assessment methods are particularly enjoyable and original as besides written examination on the core courses the majority include moot courts and drafting claims which are reviewed by experienced practitioners. Students and teachers come from all-over the world and embody the international spirit, exchanging different viewpoints on the law enhancing the experience further.
Following this LL.M and by virtue of, I was able to follow an internship at Reed Smith LLP in Paris, with their International Arbitration Department, furthering my experience and finding that I was adequately prepared for the challenges that awaited.
All Professors and notably the director of the LLM, Professor M. Laazouzi, are always approachable and provide students with all necessary guidance and mentorship and I am honoured having counted myself amongst their students.
Finally, having previously pursued law studies in France, I was familiar with the international standing of University Paris-Panthéon-Assas, which convinced me to follow this program. The high standards of the Professors and the ability to experience International Arbitration in such proximity with practitioners justifies I made the right choice of the highest calibre.
Honoured, Georgios RALLIS (LL.M. AWArDS, 2022)
